INSPIRED is a documentary series that looks at the different ways in how places inﬂuence artists. The series portrays stories of artists that found inspiration in the colors and landscape of an adopted city – and also of creators that kept using their heritage and their home countries as inspiration for decades after leaving that place.
Exploring the inﬂuence that each location has on their creative process, the eight episodes of the series analyze the lasting transformative aspect of their work on the people that live or visit that place. These artists are forever associated with the perception of a place – while also transforming them in profound ways.
INSPIRED is the U.S. version of the acclaimed documentary series “Geography of Art”, produced in Brazil for the channel Arte 1 and the Smithsonian Channel. Created by Guto Barra and Tatiana Issa, the original series features the work of Keith Haring, Yves Saint Laurent, Donald Judd, Georgia O’Keeffe, Henri Cartier- Bresson and others.
