Thirty year old real estate developer Tim Pappas sets out to build as his first building Boston’s first residential GREEN building – a marvel of ecological design and resource efficiency. With its grass roof, terraced gardens, and recycled materials, the Macallen Building is emblematic of the swelling global movement of green design. But like many cities still, in South Boston, builders and locals are skeptical – at least for a while. It’s surprising to see how the construction brings together an entire community.
Set in the storied neighborhood of South Boston and featuring the music of Force Theory, The Greening of Southie shows what happens when you try to build the environmentally-friendly city of tomorrow…today.
