From symbolizing modern Iran to enduring 20 years of house arrest, and ultimately making a stunning return to music while becoming a powerful advocate for women and freedom along the way—this is the extraordinary story of Googoosh, the Queen of Persian Pop. For decades, Iranian megastar Googoosh captivated audiences with her progressive style and boundless talent, earning global acclaim with performances alongside Tina Turner and Ray Charles while setting fashion trends as a leading actress. The 1979 Islamic Revolution halted her meteoric career with a ban on women singing in public, leading to two decades of house arrest and enforced silence. GOOGOOSH - MADE OF FIRE, directed by Niloufar Taghizadeh, recounts the dramatic life story and comeback of Googoosh through her own words and spellbinding archival footage, celebrating her journey as a defiant and inspiring symbol of hope and resilience in the Iranian struggle for humanity.

Currently we are in development on a Drew Brees bio-doc with Religion of Sports, a travel series with Topic Studios and Julian Lennon and an Alfred Hitchcock documentary.

We have the honor and privilege to bring filmmaker Niloufar Taghizadeh’s Googoosh: Made of Fire to cinemas audiences in North America early next year. The film is a moving and powerful portrait of Iranian and cultural icon Googoosh. It charts her determined rise to fame as a woman prior to the Revolution, her house arrest and 21-year enforced performance ban, her stirring and unexpected comeback in North America, and finally her advocacy on behalf of women and artists after the death of Mahsi Amini and the Women, Life, Freedom movement.

The film goes above and beyond the typical music biography to show how Googosh has become a symbol of hope and how she keeps the flame alive with her homeland and deeply connects with its people’s dream for freedom and humanity. Her life and music is a soundtrack to the struggle.

The film’s themes of women’s voices and experiences, political and human freedom, and joyful self-expression at a historical moment when those values are under threat around the world resonate strongly with both older and especially younger audiences.

Googosh has a strong, loyal and very large built-in following in the Persian and Iranian diaspora in North America, and the film can benefit from her farewell tour by providing an intimate and candid look back at her life and the current struggle for freedom in Iran.

The film will be positioned to honor Googoosh as well as the Iranian and Persian diaspora in North America in a special, collective celebration and conversation about the arts, freedom of expression, and politics.

NORTH AMERICAN THEATRICAL RELEASE

Our team is building a robust North American release that would kick-off with a red-carpet screening in Los Angeles with Googoosh in attendance and a post-screening Q&A with a moderator and perhaps other special guests, such as Arek Arefkia and Googoosh’s grand-daughter, Mya Ghorbani, who both appear in the film. We are aiming for top tier venues for the red-carpet premiere such as the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre, Beverly Hills, DGA Theater in West Hollywood or the Landmark Theater, Beverly Hills/Westwood. Will have a robust press push leading up to premiere from the film trade press such as Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, (can we name others) and mainstream press outlets such as (can we name a few that can get people excited).
